12 Mar FAQs Answered – Everything You Need to Know About Storing with Reddistores
Got questions about storage? You’re not alone! Whether you’re storing for the short term or long haul, it’s good to know the ins and outs before you rent a unit. From access times to security and what you can (and can’t) store, we’ve answered the most common FAQs below – so you can get the right storage solution with no surprises.
1. When Can I Access My Unit?
We know flexibility is important, so you can access your unit during these hours:
- Monday – Saturday: 8 am – 8 pm
- Sunday: 10 am – 6 pm
No need to rush in before closing time or squeeze a visit into your lunch break. Whether you’re dropping off a few extra boxes or picking something up last minute, there’s plenty of time to get in and out.
2. Is My Stuff Insured?
Yes it’s offered, but it’s up to you whether you take it. Insurance costs £3 per month (including VAT) for every £1,000 worth of belongings you want covered.
It’s always worth checking if your home or renter’s insurance already includes storage, but if not, this is a simple way to add extra protection for your valuables.
3. How Secure Is the Facility?
Keeping your belongings safe is a priority. Here’s what we have in place:
- Your own 8 digit access code – Only you (or people you trust) can enter.
- Every unit is alarmed – So you know your things are protected.
- CCTV & security measures – Keeping an eye on everything 24/7.
- You fit your own padlock, whether purchased from us, or one you already have, so you know your unit is only accessed by you.
Controlled access and advanced security measures ensure your belongings remain safe at all times.
4. Are the Units Heated?
Yes! All our storage units are heated and temperature controlled to keep your belongings in the best condition. This means no damp, no freezing temperatures and no extreme heat – perfect for furniture, documents, electronics and anything else that needs a stable environment.
5. Can I Store Anything I Want?
There are a few things you can’t store, including:
- Plants – They need sunlight and water and we can’t provide either.
- Pets – As much as we love animals, storage units aren’t a good place for them.
- Flammable or dangerous items – No gas canisters, fireworks or anything that could cause a problem.
- Food – Anything that goes off, attracts pests or makes a mess is not allowed, this includes bird food, pet food, tinned food or dried food – if it’s eaten it’s not permitted.
If it’s alive, illegal or a fire hazard, it’s best kept somewhere else. Not sure? Just ask!
6. How Does the Rental Process Work?
We keep things simple:
- Choose a unit – Pick a size that suits your needs.
- Pay a one month deposit – This is refundable when you move out (as long as everything is in order).
- Get your access code & move in – Your storage space is ready when you are.
- Give 14 days’ notice when you’re ready to leave – No long-term commitments, just a quick heads-up.
No hidden costs, no complicated paperwork – just straightforward storage.
7. Any Tips for Organising My Unit?
A little planning can make a big difference. Here are some quick tips:
- Label your boxes – Makes finding things much easier later.
- Stack wisely – Heavy stuff on the bottom, fragile items on top.
- Leave a walkway – If you need regular access, don’t block everything in.
- Cover furniture & valuables – Helps protect against dust and moisture.
